The Chilean National Seismic Network consists in several seismographic stations administrated originally by the University of Chile and later by the National Seismological Center. Each station operates since different times and, when it is possible, the signal is available through the *Incorporated Research Institutions for Seismology* (IRIS) or in the Data Series section of the Data Platform. The channels of each station follow a standard nomenclature of the [*International Federation of Digital Seismograph Networks* (FDSN)](http://www.fdsn.org/pdf/SEEDManual_V2.4.pdf), which consists of three letters *XYZ*. Here are the codes related to the stations available in this network: 1. **Band code**: the first letter corresponds to the sampling rate and the response band of the instrument - B (Broad band). Sampling rate (Hz): $\\geq 10$ a $\\lt 80$. Corner period (s): $\\geq 10$ - H (High Broad band). Sampling rate (Hz): $\\geq 80$ a $\\lt 250$. Corner period (s): $\\geq 10$ - L (Long period). Sampling period (Hz): $\\approx 1$ - V (Very long period). Sampling period (Hz): $\\approx 0.1$ - U (Ultra long period). Sampling period (Hz): $\\approx 0.01$ - A (Administrative instrument channel). Sampling period (Hz): variable - O (Opaque instrument channel). Sampling period (Hz): variable 2. **Instrument codes**: the second letter indicates the family to which the sensor belongs, that is, it indicates what is being measured + *Seismometer*: Measures displacement/velocity/acceleration along a line defined by the dip and azimuth - H (High Gain Seismometer) - N (Accelerometer) + *Calibration input*: Usually only used for seismometers or other magnetic coil instruments - C + *Electronic Test Point*: Used to monitor circuitry inside recording system, local power or seismometer - E + *Geophone*: Very short period seismometer, with natural frequency 5 - 10 Hz or higher - P 3. **Orientation code**: the third letter provides a way to indicate the directionality of the sensor measurement - E. East - West - N. North - South - Z. Vertical - A.
